Mark from Nevada Whatta website!! Now, I'm hungry!!! I grew up in New Britain and Cappies was always one of my favorite places. After serving 23 years in the military and traveling world wide I can honestly tell ya, These dogs are the best,! Often imitated never duplicated!! It's a New Britain institution. I presently reside in Nevada, but Capitol Lunch has always been one of my first stops when I come home for a visit. Mark Las Vegas, Nevada
Patrick and Janice from California Every year, my husband and I visit family in New Britain and we make it a point to eat at Capitol Lunch. Although we live in California now, my husband is from New Britain and Capitol Lunch was an important part of his childhood. Both he and his mother grew up eating Capitol Lunch hotdogs….it’s a family tradition! We are keeping our fingers crossed that you open a mail order business. To be able to bring a little taste of New Britain to California would be a wonderful thing! Patrick and Janice Braham Whittier, CA
Donna from Virginia What a place! What memories My Dad Ed Davanzo grew up in New Britain Conn. and loved Capitol lunch hot dogs he is 87 years old now and lives in Florida. He had a brother Rocky Davanzo and a brother Charlie Davanzo and a sister Cora Davanzo they lived on Beaver Street. My Dad is the only one in his immediate family left. He tells us all the stories about eating at Capitol lunch. My Uncle Charlie Davanzo loved the hot dogs so much when he was a young boy walking to school he would buy the hot dogs and put them in his pockets. Later when Uncle Charlie was much older living in a nursing home my brother Eddie and my Dad and Mom came to visit him from Florida and ran over to Main Street and bought him some Capitol lunch hot dogs. He thought it was the best gift anyone could ever give him. After he ate them he licked every one of his fingers. The Capitol lunch hot dog aroma flew down the halls of Andrew House nursing home I don't think they will never be the same. People came out of their rooms to find out where that wonderful smell was coming from. What a day to remember. We grew up in Florida as kids and our family would travel every year to visit all the Italian relatives in Conn. And Yes we got to eat at Capitol Lunch and we loved it. I live in Virginia now and will take my children to Capitol Lunch when we come to visit so they to will have a beautiful memory. Thanks for the best hot dogs and memories ever. Donna Davanzo Mccann.
Tammy from Delaware I was born and raised in New Britain. I grew up on Cappies. Now I live in Delaware. Recentely I was in Ct. for a reunion, I ate cappies everday and brought 3 dozen home. When will I be able to order them online? I hope you start a mail order business soon. They would make great Christmas presents for my family. 3 dozen only lasted about an hour. Thanks Tammy (Davis) Harrington Bob from Missouri I never thought that I would see Capitol Lunch on the web. I have fond memories of going there with my grandfather David Bohigian and watching the preparation of the dogs. I remember sitting at the counter when I was about six, and polishing off two hot dogs. As I got older, it was up to six. I haven't been back to New Britain for almost 25 years, but I can still remember the taste of the sauce and Martin Rosols hotdogs. I just wish You would release the recipe of the sauce. By the way, my son traveled to New Britain with my father about 5 years ago for my uncle's 50th wedding aniversary. I told him Papa HAS to take you to Capitol Lunch. He did, and he loved it. Thanks for the memories. Bob Vartanian |
Mama Lissa from Florida I grew up in New Britain and every weekend my grama and grandpa and I would walk all the way from Oak Street to feast on your wonderful hot dogs. Oh, what a treat that was. After getting married and moving to Southington we would either drive over for the same traditional weekend feast or else I would buy the hot dogs by the box 30 or more at a time and bring them home for all to share. One day my husband was out of town, so I bought just a dozen. On the way home, stopped to get sodas and before I got home I ate all those dogs up......I couldn't move! Turned the car around, drove back to Capitol Lunch and this time got 20 more dogs with the works for my 2 kids to pig out on. They did not understand why I didn't want any (and I wouldn't tell them). PLEASE start a mail order so we can get them here in Florida. You guys are the best and your hot dogs are fantastic! Mama Lissa from Florida |
Patti from Florida Like many other of your emailers, I was hoping that you were doing mail orders. I also grew up in New Britain. My dad used to regularly bring home the Cappie Dogs by the dozen in the top of the hot dog boxes as they were packaged since I can remember. Both my Dad and I live in Florida now a couple hours apart. A girlfriend from CT visited with me recently and brought me a pint of sauce as a surprise. I only wish we had the Martin Rosols to go with it. It was great just the same. I was hoping to get some sauce for Dad for Father's Day. Please keep my email and let me know as soon as you start shipping. No charge would be too great!!!
David from Hawaii We were talking about the good old days and growing up in New Britain and I was just wondering...can/do you ship your sauce? I would love to get some but New Britain is a long way from Hawaii so if it is possible, that sure would be great! If not, can I buy your recipe? Mahalo
Mike from Maine Oh, man...I'm going to have to make the pilgrimage a little early (or an extra one more likely) after reading the stories. My mouth is watering right now. Born in New Britain, but my parents moved to southern Maine many years ago. My grandfather, Mateusz Sinenkiewicz, would always buy a dozen dogs for the family when we would come down to visit for a weekend. He passed away a few years ago, but I still usually make 2-3 day trips down just to grab 2 dozen and 2 pints (to hold me over until my next trip). I don't know which leg of the trip is longer...coming down the highway in anticipation of the cappies or the ride back with the smell permeating the whole car. I have to lock them in the trunk so I don't sneak too many on the ride home. If has sprung up a cottage industry though...3 of my friends have become addicted to the dogs so what started out as 2 dozen is now usually 4, as they grab a dozen apiece.

| I love the fact that Capitol Lunch created a website. My mouth waters every time I look at that gorgeous dog on the home page. Being originally from New Britain now living in Simsbury I still drive down to Broad Street to get my haircuts from the famous Tony's Barber shop and after I am done I have to always stop by Capitol Lunch for 6 dogs with everything to go. Its become a tradition for me and one which I hope does not end. My grandfather ate cappie dogs, my dad eats cappie dogs, I eat cappie dogs and my boys eat cappie dogs. Simply the best Hot Dogs Ever! Don't ever stop! |

Cathryn from Atlanta I was born and raised in New Britain and remember fondly the many times my father would bring home a “white box” full of capital lunch hotdogs. I’ve been to Chicago, New York and presently live in Atlanta; NO WHERE can I find the taste and simple quality of a capital lunch hotdogs. So, please hear the “pleas” of your relocated cappies and help us enjoy our hometown taste in our faraway lands. I would love to purchase at least the sauce through mail order; and smother my hotdogs (the one that “snaps”) along with mustard and onions and enjoy that hometown taste again. Also, my husband (Georgia born) cannot understand my “cravings” for a capital lunch hotdog; one bite and he will be hooked as well.

| George from Florida Wow!! I was just thinking about your dogs and looked you up on the net. I am glad you are still in business. I grew up in New Britain and Southington and ate there as often as I could with my brothers. I have been living in Ocala, Florida for 25 years now and always think about Cappies. We have nothing that comes close to your dogs down here. The website makes me drool ha ha. If you ever decide to franchise I will be first in line to open a store here. When I went back to CT for a visit years ago I made a beeline to Hot Dog Heaven and told all of my friends here in Florida just what they are missing. Wishing you all well. |
Somer and Adam First off, you have an amazing product. Have you ever thought of franchising? Do you send your sauce out of state? My husband grew up on Capital Lunch hot dogs. Ever since I met him he has raved about how amazing the sauce is. We lived in AZ, but got married back East. When I met my Father in Law at his house for the first time we all had Capital Lunch hot dogs. I have to admit they are amazing. The sauce doesnt over power the dog, it compliments it. I have a picture of the first box of Capitol Lunch hot dogs I've ever had the pleasure of eating with my new family. We live out West and there is nothing that even comes close to Cappy Dogs. COME OUT HERE ALREADY :) |
